Seychelles penetration on the South American market of Brazil has set the marketing wheel going for the islands’ local Destination Management Companies (DMCs) to move to capture their fair share of the Brazilian tourism market.

Brazil’s soaring financial power has increased outbound tourism from the South American nation, and tourism-dependent countries are now all working hard to entice Brazilian holiday makers to their shores. The ultimate symbol of the Brazilian extraordinary potential in travel growth has also incited Seychelles to put the right mechanisms into place as the country gets ready to welcome Brazilian visitors.

Just six months after the official visit to Brazil and Argentina by Minister St.Ange, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and Mr. David Germain, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Director for Africa and the Americas, their trip is paying dividends as Seychelles DMC Creole Travel Services braces itself to receive a familiarization visit to Seychelles from one of Brazil’s top long-haul tour operators, “Designer Tours,” from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

A group of 10 agents from different suburbs of Sao Paulo will be visiting the islands to familiarize themselves with their products and services.

Seychelles is anticipating a growth in its honeymoon niche market segment from Brazil. According to the Seychelles Tourism Board Director for Africa and the Americas, “There is an ever-increasing trend of newlyweds to fly to exotic destinations for their honeymoon. The Brazilian honeymooners are a target market for Seychelles in combination with either Africa or the Middle East,” said David Germain.

The Designer Tours familiarization visit to Seychelles is being hosted jointly by Air Seychelles, Creole Travel Services, and the Seychelles Tourism Board.

“As part of our tourism strategies for the Americas and Africa, the Seychelles Tourism Board and Air Seychelles, our national carrier, is working in close collaboration to consolidate its marketing efforts and to position our destination in the region. These are being done in order to ensure the potential growth and business opportunities are well attained by all our partners involved in the market,” said David Germain.

Seychelles is gaining increased visibility in Brazil following the participation of Brazil at the island’s annual carnival. The decision for Brazil to be represented by the Sao Paulo top Samba School was reached during the visit to Brazil by the Seychelles Minister last year.

A Seychelles press conference was held in Brazil by Minister St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and Mr. David Germain, Seychelles Tourism Board Director for Africa and the Americas.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP).
