The Old Jameson Distillery, Dublin, and the Jameson Experience, in Midleton, Co Cork, recorded booming figures, reaching a combined 354,915 guests.

The Cork-based tourist attraction recorded a 25pc increase in visitors and the distillery in Smithfield, Dublin, reported a 14pc increase โ€“ a 17pc average rise.

John Callely, managing director of Watercourse Distillery, which operates the Old Jameson Distillery and the Jameson Experience, said 43pc of visitors came from the US, followed by Germany, France, Spain and Britain.

Irish tourists made up 9pc of visitors.

“We are delighted with the increase in visitors to both facilities in 2012, which reflects an increase in the number of tourists visiting the country and also the continued growth in the global popularity of Jameson Whiskey,” Mr Callely said.
