ROME, Italy – More than 80 associations representing thousands of travel agencies from all over the world, of which only about 7,000 are in Italy, met in Rome from February 3 to 5 to take stock of the situation in the tourism sector, as well as news related to relations with the railway companies and the cruise industry.
The occasion is the meeting of the Executive Board of UFTAA (Universal Federation of Travel Agents Association), the United Federation of associations of travel agencies and tour operators around the world.
Trenitalia is the official carrier of the initiative and the only railway company invited to the important event. For Trenitalia it is an opportunity to present the news and services of its network for 2013, in addition to the characteristics of its trading platforms, which allow agencies to distribute the products of Trenitalia worldwide.
Also, updates on the integration taking place with the Global Distribution Service (GDS) and projects for the near future related to world travel and trade are provided.
The three days in Rome is the last meeting before the International Congress of the Federation, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, scheduled from April 17 to 23, 2013. Trenitalia will be the exclusive Railway Company invited to attend the international event, organized by the Association of Malaysian agencies (MATTA).
