LOS ANGELES, California - Green Globe announces re-certification of the Sea-U Guest House in Bathsheba, St. Joseph, Barbados. For years this property has been demonstrating a firm commitment to meet the highest international standards in regards to the environment, conservation and corporate social responsibility. Sea-U Guest House’s green initiatives did outstanding work, promoting awareness and sustainable practices on all levels.

“We are very happy and proud to have achieved the prestigious Green Globe certificate for the 4th time in a row,” said Ursula Wetzels, Owner of the Sea-U Guest House. “It has always been our goal to maintain the natural beauty of Bathsheba and its tropical garden, which blend so perfect into the untamed beauty of Barbados’ rugged east coast. We implemented a wide range of green practices into our daily operation, such as reusing linens, waste reduction and recycling, increasing energy efficiency, environmental education and community outreach. Installing a solar generator has made a significant difference in reducing our energy consumption, and also in keeping us connected for a while in case of a power outage.”

A long-term Sustainability Management System is in effect at the Sea-U Guest House, energy consumption and water reduction goals are recorded on a monthly basis. The resort is actively involved in conserving resources, reducing pollution, conserving biodiversity, ecosystems and landscapes. Packaging is reduced to a minimum and local suppliers adhering to sustainable practices are given preference. Guests are encouraged to sharpen their sense of environmental responsibility and minimize their carbon footprint. The Sea-U Guest House is dedicated to create a safe and clean environment, employees benefit from regular training sessions to achieve the environmental goals set by the hotel.

Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Guido Bauer, commented: “We are extremely pleased to award re-certification to the Sea-U Guest House on Barbados. This property really impresses with their dedication to environmental preservation – following the motto of the Barbados Sustainable Development Policy ‘Doing the right things by doing things right.’ Barbados has a Natural Tourism Policy, whose broad objective is to pursue sustainable tourism through conservation and managed use of its natural heritage, improvement and optimal use of human resources, to ensure a product of the highest quality, improving the life and economic development of the people of Barbados.”
