SCTA and Ad-Dammam University sign MOU for nationalization of tourism jobs

On the sidelines of the II National Urban Heritage Forum, which is held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Fahd bin Abdul-Aziz, the Governor of Eastern Province and President of the Tourism Development Council in the region, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), and Ad-Dammam University signed today a memorandum of cooperation for the localization of tourism jobs, and activating local communities’ roles in the implementation of the national tourism development plan.

SCTA was represented by its President, His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman, and the University by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Rabish.

The memorandum dictates achieving integrity in developing national human tourism resources, preparing training programs, supervising the training programs and checking training standards, and improving tourism professional standards for fulfilling tourism market’s demands and localizing tourism sector careers.

According to this agreement, both parties will collaborate for overcoming hurdles that might hinder developing the tourism education sector; determining performance standards and quality conditions; highlighting national tourism definition in syllabi learned in tourism educational institutions; benefiting from the university’s experience in education and the use of GIS system; launching tourism-promoting, post-graduation studies in the University and benefiting from SCTA’s experience in preparing training programs for tourism colleges and school graduates; embracing the university’s experience in urban heritage and urban researches sectors; encouraging the university to take part in restoring urban heritage sites in the context of the Urban Heritage Preservation program; training tour guides; supporting the University’s efforts and programs for raising national awareness of urban heritage importance; and developing traditional building styles and materials to keep up with modern life’s needs and changes.
