BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – The rearrangement of the holidays calendar in Argentina has allowed an increase of 43 percent compared to 2011 in the movement of national tourists across the country, said sources of the sector.

The arrivals to different locations during the 11 long weekends this year would total 11.1 million, said Tourism Minister, Enrique Meyer.

The holidays calendar allows a better distribution of the demand over the year, as well as the income that generates the activity across the country, he said.

According to the minister, in the last long weekend of the year, which begins today, around 980,000 Argentines will visit national tourist destinations.

The most favored regions are the interior of the province of Buenos Aires, especially the resort of Mar del Plata, Cordoba and the regions of North and Cuyo.
