ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – The Anti Narcotic Force (ANF) in Pakistan foiled two different bids of heroin smuggling when it intercepted a passenger Aleem Zada, son of Habib Zada, at Peshawar airport on Tuesday, who was going to Doha and recovered two kg of heroin, while yesterday ANF arrested one passenger, Waheed, at Lahore airport and recovered 1 kg of fine heroin.

The ANF has launched a high alert at Quetta and Karachi airports because an international smuggling racket is trying to send consignment through these airports out of the country. Sources claimed that after the foil bid of Lahore, the international smuggling racket tried to use Peshawar Airport to send consignment.

In Lahoreโ€™s case, when two arrested officials of the Civil Aviation and one porter were investigated, the name of many important people working at Islamabad Airport came to the surface, including one of a very important official of Islamabad Airport who is known for his contacts with of one of the biggest television channels of Pakistan and always provides protocol to Managing Director and other anchors of this television channel.

Arrested officials during investigations claimed that Deputy Manager Islamabad Airport, Sardar Javed Attiq, who is a cousin of the Bureau Chief of one of the biggest television channels of Pakistan working at Abottabad, directed them to take passenger Waheed through the protocol channel.

Sources claimed that arrested officials during the investigation claimed that Sardar Javed Attiq called them to provide protocol to passenger Waheed telling a Lahore official that Mr. Waheed was an important person of foreign service, therefore, he should be given protocol and should not go through normal checking procedures.

Sources also claimed that Sardar Javed Attiq have strong contacts in the media as well as in the Foreign Office and some of his relatives working in Foreign Service are trying to save the skin of Sardar Javed and even trying to put pressure on ANF to take away the name of Sardar Javed from the investigation. When the Kooza News Desk tried to contact Sardar Javed for comments, he was not available.
