Bali Hotels Association (BHA) took another step alongside its partners today in enhancing the resilience of its 106 member hotels towards any threat, especially terrorism.

Seventy-eight security and training managers gathered at Bali Dynasty Hotel in Tuban for a one-day security workshop. Subjects covered ranged from counter-terrorism to risk management to perimeter-control best practices. Guest speakers from the British and Australian embassies provided special insights into the current threat environment.

In addition, BHA presented a new version of its Hotel Security and Safety Self-Assessment Tool, and the Bali Security Managers Association launched the Bali Security and Safety Emergency Radio Communications System. Meanwhile, representatives of the police shed light on new meetings regulations for Bali.

A special highlight was the launch of Child Sex Detection and Prevention Guidelines – a joint project between the Sacred Childhoods Foundation and BHA aiming at setting new standards in the fight against child abuse on the island.

Alexander Kesper, BHA Security and Safety Executive, said: “This workshop underlines our commitment towards the highest standards not only with regards to the creation of unforgettable and unique holiday experiences for our guests but also security and safety. To safeguard our guests and employees is a top priority and a team effort.”

The workshop was supported by the Australian and British embassies, the United Nations Department for Security and Safety, Hawkeye Security, Sacred Childhoods Foundation, the Bali Security Managers Association, and the Bali police force.

The Bali Hotels Association is a member of the International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP), a fast-growing grassroots travel and tourism coalition of global destinations committed to quality service and green growth.
