PRESIDENT JACOB ZUMA and PRESIDENT JAMES MICHEL JOIN TOGETHER TO HOST MEETING BETWEEN ANDRY RAJOELINA and MARC RAVALOMANANA
South Africa and Seychelles working for peaceful transition in Madagascar
Reports from South Africa is confirming that this coming Wednesday, Seychelles will play host to a high-level meeting between Andry Rajoelina and Marc Ravalomanana. News just in also confirms that South African President, Mr. Jacob Zuma, is personally traveling to the Seychelles to chair the meeting between the two Madagascar leaders alongside the Seychelles President, Mr. James Michel.
At the last AU (African Union) meeting last week, President Zuma and President Michel met privately, and it is believed that they were putting final touches to the Seychelles meeting between Andry Rajoelina and Marc Ravalomanana.
Mr. Tomaz Salomao, the Secretary General of SADC (Southern Africa Development Corporation), and Mr. Jean Claude De L’Estrac, the Secretary General of the COI (Indian Ocean Commission), are also both expected to be present at this Madagascar high-level meeting. It is to be noted that President Zuma of South Africa and President James Michel of the Seychelles have been working through SADC and the COI for a Madagascar solution.
News that remains unconfirmed is that the Seychelles President is making available the resort island of Desroches in the Seychelles for the meeting. This known "one island – one hotel" complex is reputed for its beauty and exceptional setting.
President James Michel of the Seychelles is the sitting President of the Indian Ocean Commission and has been committed for a peaceful solution for Madagascar.
