LOS ANGELES, California – Green Globe today announced certification of Club Med Saint-Moritz Roi Soleil in southeast Switzerland. This resort, located in the Engadine valley in the Swiss Alps, is the 26th Club Med Village to receive certification for its sustainability achievements.

Club Med Saint-Moritz uses 100 percent renewable energy, and features equipment that optimizes heating, ventilation, and lights. To optimize water management, the village installed water regulators in taps and dishwashers with granule metering units. The resort also sorts waste, separating glass, packaging, paper, wood, cooking oil, batteries, light bulbs, and ink cartridges, as well as dangerous waste.

Doris Fiol, Green Globe Coordinator at Club Med Saint-Moritz, said: โ€œWe are proud to receive the renowned Green Globe Certificate as this shows the commitment and ambition of our staff to implement sound sustainability practices. Every single team member has taken on the challenge of being responsible for ecologically and socially-sustainable management and turned our green practices into a key subject in interactions with our guests. Health, nature, innovation, local employment, and dialogue are some of the key words used in conversations with customers.โ€

โ€œOur staff has laid the foundations for Club Med Saint Moritzยดs green ambitions and will continue to monitor and improve our procedures,โ€ added Ms. Fiol.

Guido Bauer, Green Globe Certificationยดs CEO, said: โ€œWe are pleased to certify the beautiful resort Club Med Saint-Moritz. The village Saint Moritz, which has 5,000 permanent residents, is famous for its great skiing and winter sport opportunities, having hosted the Winter Olympics twice and the Alpine Skiing World Championships three times. The Engadine region is one of the most popular and beautiful tourist destinations, with its high rugged mountains, beautiful lakes, and sunny climate.โ€

Mr. Bauer added, โ€œClub Med Saint-Moritz provides books about the region for guests who want to learn more about the natural and cultural environment. Club Med Saint-Moritz also organizes activities to promote local culture and educate guests, who are also encouraged to use water and energy in a responsible way and informed how to protect the alpine fauna and flora.โ€
