American Airlines Flight 246, which departed from Kona, Hawaii, at 8:57 pm on Sunday, April 22, landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport on one engine.

The 140 passengers that were onboard, disembarked at the terminal gate, along with the 7 crewmembers of the flight at 5:19 am this morning (Monday, April 23).

Matt Miller, a spokesman for American Airlines, said the pilot reported that instruments showed trouble with the left engine about an hour before arrival in Los Angeles. The engine was shut down, and the remainder of the flight went on without incident. Aircraft are designed to fly safely on one engine.
