Seychelles to host Routes Africa 2012
Routes Africa program finalized
As part of a busy schedule at the 10th Routes Asia forum, currently taking place in Chengdu, China, between April 15-17, the Seychelles delegation, led by the Minister of Tourism & Culture, Alain St.Ange, has held meetings with the organizers of the Routes forum to agree upon the program of the coming Routes Africa forum to be held in Seychelles between July 8-10, 2012.
The Seychelles delegation, made up of the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Elsia Grandcourt; Managing Director of Operations for the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority, Wilfred Fock-Tave; Senior Air Transport Executive, Florence Marengo; and the Tourism Board’s Amy Michel and Glynn Burridge, attended an hour-long meeting to refine the details of the Routes Africa forum that Seychelles successfully bid for after their attendance at the Berlin Routes forum in October 2011.
“It is important for Seychelles to have been represented at this forum,” explained Minister St.Ange, “not only to learn from the experience in order to host a successful Routes forum of our own, but also to sell Seychelles as the gateway from Asia to Africa through the western Indian Ocean region.”
Discussions with the Routes organizing team, led by Phil Callow, CEO of UBM Aviation, and David Stroud, Executive Vice President of Routes, centered upon the international marketing of the Seychelles event along with details concerning venues, value-added activities for delegates, and other items relevant to the forthcoming forum’s program in Seychelles.
“Seychelles is after the Routes Africa to showcase the needs of Africa and the Indian Ocean islands in the world of aviation. We echoed this message, and we were happy to confirm to Routes that the South Africa Minister responsible for Tourism would be addressing the forum on aviation in Africa today,” Minister Alain St.Ange said.
