The International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP) announced today that a second organization from Pakistan – the Ecotourism Society Pakistan – has joined the membership of this growing tourism organization. The roster of members to ICTP has of late been growing on a daily basis.

Establish in 1998, Ecotourism Society Pakistan (ESP) is considered as an association working for the purpose of advancing knowledge and disseminating information about mountain research and mountain development throughout the world devoted to multidisciplinary research. It has identified some relevant themes concerning economics, geography, environment, and management in connection with integrated tourism activities.

Hasnain Khan, Secretary of ESP, said: “ESP is an organization that has around 20 tourism organisations of Pakistan, including PTDC, as its members. We may be an effective bridge for ICTP in Pakistan.”

One of the objectives of the ESP is to produce and publish worthy research literature online on tourism. ESP conducts research on environmentally-critical areas where tourism has posed a problem or may interface with sensitive resources. Therefore, ESP is essentially a place of learning, where scholars, particularly of tourism, have the opportunity to exchange views, opinions, and knowledge.

The Chairman of ICTP, Juergen Thomas Steinmetz, is pleased to welcome this second member to the organization from Pakistan. “The objectives that ESP is working to meet is right in line with ICTP’s mission to engage communities in sustainable tourism and green travel activities,” Steinmetz said.
