The 40-plus delegation from the famous and very popular Notting Hill Carnival from the UK has arrived in the Seychelles where they will participate in the 2012 Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Carnival jointly hosted by Seychelles and La Reunion.

UKโ€™s Notting Hill won the Best International Delegationโ€™s Prize at the 2011 edition of that Indian Ocean Islands Carnival and they have arrived in the Seychelles with a reinforced group of artists and performers. The group was met on arrival in Seychelles by Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board; Elsia Grandcourt, his Deputy; and Marymonde Matatiken, the islandโ€™s Manager for their โ€œCelebrate Seychellesโ€ Events Department Bureau at the Tourism Board.

Alain St.Ange told the press after the arrival of the UK Group that they were happy to have Notting Hill back in Seychelles. โ€œThey are one of the worldโ€™s best and most-known carnivals and to have them parading in the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islandโ€™s Carnival is an honor.โ€

Thirty-three international delegations are expected to be part of the carnival of the Indian Ocean this year, staged under the banner of the โ€œMelting Pot of Cultures.โ€
