Tour operators learn the basics of Ela tourism
The General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities represented in its program management and tourism products, the implementation of tariff for a recent trip to the province, Ula, and Madain Saleh Airport, to mark the opening of Prince Abdul Majeed bin Abdul Aziz in Al-Ula, and the participation of 13 tour operators licensed by the commission.
The participants in the trip visited a number of tourist sites and heritage in the Ela, such as the town, the quaint Museum of Ela, and the tombs of the black and free Auared and Madain Saleh, along with the rock elephant, in addition to interviewing members of the community, and visiting some farms out there and looking at the varied agricultural products, which are characterized by Ela province.
For his part, Abdullah said the guide manager in program management and tourism products, in charge of the body, aimed the trip to introduce the most important sites and attractions of Al-Ola, and activate and strengthen the concept of tours organized for visitors to Madain Saleh, as well as encouraging tour operators to implement specialty tours and identifying the feasibility of establishing such tours and promoting the positive perception of the diversity of the tourism potential of the province of Ela.
The tour lasted for two days to publicize the program, "Leave No Trace" (a program of eco-tourism adopted by the Tourism Authority), which aims to achieve eco-tourism, as well as enjoyable and responsible tourism in natural areas, as defined by programs, tourism, and health. The possibility of running tours of the areas was also discussed, such as treatment programs using the warm sea water on the beaches (the Red Sea and Persian Gulf) and treatment using the sand.
At the end of the journey, 8 tour operators participating in the trip, received the attention of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities and its partners from various government agencies organizing tourist sites, restoration, and care to preserve the archeological sites.
They stressed the importance of opening the airport, Prince Abdul Majeed bin Abdul Aziz in Al-Ula, representing this province as an important tourist area, containing many elements unique to tourism. They pointed out that this step contributes significantly to the achievement of the goals sought out by the state of the creation of this airport. Additionally, the opening of the airport will bring economic benefits, tourism, and the social conservatives in general, and will hopefully contribute to increase the attractions of the province of Ela and help develop tourism and the economy.
