SRI LANKA (eTN) – ETurboNews Ambassador from Sri Lanka, Srilal Miththapala, Project Director of the SWITCH ASIA Program – Greening Sri Lankan Hotels and immediate past President
of the Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, had the opportunity to accompany Prince and Princess Michael of Kent to the Pinnawela elephant orphanage on behalf of the Tourist Board yesterday.

The Prince and Princess were on a very hush-hush private visit to Sri Lanka. The Princess is very actively involved with conservation activities in Africa and was quite knowledgeable about elephants. The Prince was informal and relaxed.

“This kind of high-profile visit is welcome at a time when we are trying to reach out to high-end tourists,” Sri Lanka Tourism’s Acting Director General Vipula Wanigasekera was quoted as saying in the statement.

Prince Michael of Kent is a grandson of King George V and Queen Mary and a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. He is representing the Queen at certain functions in Commonwealth realms.
