Travel and tourism businesses attain highest sustainability indicators
Green Globe Certification selects Highest Achievement Award winners for 2011
LOS ANGELES, California - Green Globe Certification announced its top performing sustainable travel and tourism businesses for 2011. Businesses selected for the Highest Achievement Award 2011 have attained the highest percentage of sustainability indicators under the Green Globe Standard for travel and tourism.
Green Globe Certification CEO Guido Bauer said: “We have carefully reviewed not only the level of achievement of each of the award winners, but also assessed the types of activities that our certified businesses have engaged in.
“In each case, the business has moved beyond improving their environmental performance to engage with the local community to develop the quality of life within the destination and ensure that, as commercial operations, they are giving back to nurture social engagement.
“In addition, the novel initiatives and activities by these companies to engage in sustainable practice, have been an inspiration to guests and customers who have taken away not only an excellent travel experience but in some way have been inspired to make sustainability part of their lives back home.”
