The government has agreed to license one more private air carrier in Vietnam, the Air Speed-Up Corporation (ASP).

The firm is based at 80/10 Ba Huyen Thanh Quan, Ward 9, District 3, HCM City. The firm was established by song writer Ha Dung.

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Transport to temporarily stop receiving more airline establishment applications and design a roadmap for licensing new airlines in Vietnam.

According to previous information, ASP is a low-cost airway and it will offer local flights with Hanoi, HCM City and Da Nang as the destinations before reaching out to the world.

โ€œOur model is not low-cost like Pacific Airlines, but economy price with high quality,โ€ Dung said.

He said VSP will apply two airfare levels: economy and business up to the Finance Ministryโ€™s ceiling fare, VND1.7 million/local routes.

In late 2007, the first private airline owned by a group of businessmen, VietAir, received a license and it plans to offer its first flight between Hanoi and HCM City in late 2008.
