Kim Kardashian in trouble with Australian immigration authorities

Australia puts Kim Kardashian on watch list over visa violations

Dec 03, 2011

Kim Kardashian is reportedly in trouble with the Australian authorities.

The reality star has been placed on a watch list by the country's immigration department for breaching her visa application three times over four years.

Most recently Kim went Down Under last month to launch her new handbag range - but was on a tourist visa instead of a business one, the Daily Telegraph in Australia claims.

Her heavily-publicised promotional trip - which saw her take part in television and radio interviews and make in-store appearances - came in the wake of her announcement she was divorcing husband Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage.

And according to the Telegraph, this didn't go unnoticed by the Department Of Immigration in Canberra.

Upon further investigation it was discovered she had made previous trips in 2007 and last year to promote Blonde beer and her reality show.

Now the 31-year-old TV personality has been placed on a watch list by the immigration department - and any future visits will be heavily scrutinised, according to the publication.

When asked for comment officials declined to comment specifically on the case, but did release a general statement on foreign people coming to work in Australia.

'For privacy reasons it would not be appropriate to discuss particular details of an individual because people who enter Australia must abide by the conditions of their visa,' a spokeswoman for the Department Of Immigration in Canberra said.

'If people are undertaking work in Australia they need to be on an appropriate visa with work conditions attached.'

The statement went on: 'If people do breach conditions of their visa, then the department can counsel them or cancel that person's visa ... and the department may record their breaches and immigration history.

'Their history would then be taken into account if they apply for another visa to enter Australia.

'The identities of such people are then put on to a Movement Alert List.'

Kim's representatives did not immediately respond when contacted for comment.

Kim's estranged husband Humphries, meanwhile, is attempting to put off his divorce in favour of an annulment, but he still thinks he was used for her business ventures rather than for a serious marriage.

Although Kris, 26, is said to have really loved Kim, a friend told US website that he feels he was 'slotted in the plot line of Kim Kardashian's latest headline and newest business venture.'

He reportedly believes his wife never intended on staying married to him - but she just needed to boost ratings on her reality TV show.
