Mr. Remo Della Porta, the Vice President of Sales for Blue Panorama Airlines of Italy, was in Seychelles this weekend for discussions on the possibility of starting direct flights between the tropical tourist islands of the Seychelles and Italy.
Mr. Della Porta met with Mr. Barry Faure, the Seychelles Secretary of State in the President’s Office and Chairman of the Seychelles Tourism Board, at a meeting organized at the Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove Hotel in the presence of Capt. David Savy, the Chairman of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA); Alain St.Ange, CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board; Gilbert Faure, CEO of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority; and Elsia Grandcourt, the Deputy CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board.
Before leaving the Seychelles on this very short working visit, Mr. Remo Della Porta also held a second meeting with Bram Steller, the CEO of Air Seychelles; Capt. David Savy, the Chairman of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority; and Elsia Grandcourt, the Deputy CEO of the Tourism Board.
Mr. Porta of the Blue Panorama Airlines wanted to reaffirm the intentions of his airline to launch nonstop direct flights that would do a Milan, Rome, Seychelles run. He emphasized that the airline had already formally applied to ENAC, the Civil Aviations Authority of Italy for designation formalities and that they were now seriously considering launching flights to the Seychelles to fill the void created by the announcement from Air Seychelles that they were discontinuing their Italy service from early January 2012.
Italy remains the second-most important tourist market for Seychelles and many Italian travelers have only this week made it known to their tour operators that they want nonstop direct flights only.
Mr. Della Porta confirmed to Mr. Barry Faure that their Blue Panorama Airlines was after a long-term association with Seychelles and that they wanted to see if it was possible to conclude all negotiations in the coming week so that a formal announcement could be made which would remove all uncertainty in the market place.
Blue Panorama Airlines is an Italian all-private airline, which operates on long-haul scheduled flights. Blue Panorama Airlines is an active IATA member and IOSA registered. It was established in 1993 and is based in Rome, Italy.
