“Rhine -Main-Wine” – These are the words that will be remembered by some 1,200 delegates who came to the 50th ICCA World Congress in Leipzig and who followed the invitation to a business lunch given by the Congress Centres of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Region. From October 22-26, 2011, the trade fair city of Leipzig, which is situated in the German state of Saxony, attracted some 1,200 MICE professionals from over 80 countries to discuss the future of their industry.

The Congress Centres of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region used this opportunity to present themselves jointly to international professionals. They were supported by Generation Riesling, an association of ambitious young wine growers, who had set themselves the aim of boosting the image of German wine, both in their own country and elsewhere. Delegates, therefore, enjoyed a good drop of wine from the Rhine-Main region with their lunch.

Conclusions were unanimously positive among the managers of the Wissenschafts- und Kongresszentrum Darmstadt (the Darmstadt Science and Congress Centre), Rhein-Main-Hallen, Kurhaus Wiesbaden, Congress Frankfurt/Messe Frankfurt, and Congress Centrum Mainz. “It was a great opportunity in this industry to draw attention to the significance of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Region and to the short distances between them and from the airport,” said Lars Wöhler (Darmstadt), Holger Syhre (Wiesbaden), Claudia Delius-Fisher (Frankfurt), and August Moderer (Mainz). Similar activities are due to follow.
