Nyaribo airstrip gets upgrades and expansion

The Kenya Airports Authority has inspected the upgrade and expansion of the airfield in Nyeri county, assuring the aviation and business fraternity present during the occasion, of continued infrastructural improvements for the industry.

The runway expansion and addition of brand new apron has made flying from the capital, and from anywhere else in the country much safer, since the newly re-surfaced field is now 1.3 kilometers long. Work still continues on a new passenger terminal and perimeter security fencing.
Half a dozen similar airstrips in strategically important locations are also due to be upgraded to similar standards - a boost for general aviation and medical evacuation flights and of course for the all important ‘safari flights’ carrying tourists from one part of the country to the other.
