The Indian Ocean islands of the Seychelles has had a raving review in the May issue of the Fortune magazine. With a catching heading, “SEYCHELLES, Changing Fortunes,” the article spells out the main attributes of the mid-ocean islands with interviews with the Head of State, President James Michel; the Vice President, Mr. Danny Faure; Minister Peter Sinon; and Mr. Pierre Laporte, the Governor of the Central bank, among many other personalities.

The President of the Seychelles is quoted as saying that it was important to encourage more Seychellois to enter the country’s tourism industry. This is cited as part of the new drive by Seychelles in its refocus of its economy. The article also talks about tourism proper, offshore, fisheries, and finance among many other topics that showcases the new Seychelles.

The seven-page article on the Seychelles in Fortune magazine is just the latest international coverage for these islands. They have become very visible in the last couple of years through work undertaken by Press Offices set up at the President’s Own State House Offices, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and at the Seychelles Tourism Board, which has now also opened a European PR & News Bureau in the city of London.
