Tourism officials from Texas, otherwise known as The Lone Star state, have expressed their keen interest in luring UK travel agents. From October 3rd to 7th, 2011, Texas tourism and representatives from Austin, Fort Worth, Dallas, San Antonio, TaxFree Shopping LTD, Houston and Wildcatter Ranch will be visiting the UK to meet with travel agents, tour operators and Travelbag consumers to promote the Lone Star State to the UK market.

Texas Tourism said it visitors from the UK make up the second largest group of international inbound tourists to Texas, and the planned mission aims to promote the stateโ€™s latest attractions and offerings to travel agents and product managers in both London and Manchester.,

โ€œTexas is a fun and vibrant state which offers UK visitors a multitude of holiday itineraries to suit every need. As the second largest state in the US there is so much on offer,โ€ said Martin Court, Texas Tourismโ€™s UK sales and trade representative, about the upcoming trip. โ€œHolidays in Texas can vary from Gulf of Mexico beach breaks to a tax-free shopping city break in Austin, exploring the Big Bend on horseback, immersing yourself in the art scene in Dallas or discovering cowboy history in Fort Worth. โ€œ

He added: โ€œThe upcoming sales mission aims to educate agents and promote some of the lesser know attractions and activities the Lone Star State has to offer the British market. In particular, 2011 has seen us focus on the Formula 1โ„ข United States Grand Prix in Austin, which will be returning to the US after a five year absence. The new US home to F1 will be at the Circuit of the Americas track, which is under construction and plans to open the track are scheduled for early 2012. We have also been promoting Galveston as one of the up and coming cruise ports to the Caribbean, with four major cruise lines launching new ships out of the port in 2012.โ€

Texas Tourism officials stated that travel agents from Trailfinders in London, North American Travel Service and Thomas Cook in Manchester will be treated to exclusive training sessions hosted by Texas Tourism and representatives from the stateโ€™s partners. The state will also host a travel agent canapรฉ and drinks reception for Kuoni, Trailfinders, North American Travel Service and Thomas Cook agents amongst others in Manchesterโ€™s The Living Room Restaurant and Bar.

โ€œRickshaws branded by Texas Tourism will be on hand to transport guests to a consumer drinks and canapรฉ reception at Altitude 360 in London, co-hosted by Travelbag. The event aims to promote Texas to Travelbag customers who have not considered Texas as a destination before. Representatives from American Airways and British Airways will also be in attendance at the event.โ€
