Seychelles hosts special arrival for passengers in honor of World Tourism Day
Seychelles, the tropical islands in the middle of the Indian Ocean, celebrated the UN World Tourism Organization’s World Tourism Day for 2011, which takes place on September 27 every year, by hosting arriving passengers to a special welcoming at the Seychelles International Airport.
The World Tourism Day celebration is held annually on September 27, and this year’s celebrations across the world and in the Seychelles is taking place under the theme "Tourism – Linking Cultures."
Upon stepping into the arrival lounge of the Seychelles International Airport, tourists had the chance to enjoy and appreciate the sound and beat of Seychelles’ Creole music with a live performance from local musicians Dave Sinon and Reuben Larue.
Also present for the welcoming event, were representatives of the Seychelles Tourism Board, comprising Sharon Francois, Line Mancienne, and Isabelle Houareau.
The special welcome at the International Airport has been organized by the Seychelles Tourism Board. This event appears each year on the Seychelles Tourism Board’s program for World Tourism Day. This year, the Seychelles Tourism Board is marking the 2011 World Tourism Day with a week-long program of tourism-related activities, celebrating the importance of the tourism industry as it remains the revenue generator of the islands.
