Shows support at mother's funeral
Seychelles tourism industry rallies around Tourism Director during time of loss
David Germain, the Cape Town-based Seychelles Tourism Director for Africa, the Americas and the Middle East was last weekend surrounded by the creole islands tourism professionals to bid farewell to his mother who passed away as he was in South Africa. David Germain the long-time and popular Seychelles representative based in South Africa flew back to his birth home on the island of Praslin in the Seychelles via Dubai on Emirates to be with his three sisters Beryl, Diana, and Julita; family friends; and the Seychelles tourism industry for the funeral of Mrs. Marie Simone Germain.
The Seychelles President, Mr. James Michel, who personally holds the tourism portfolio in his government, sent a bouquet of flowers for the grieving family and was represented at the funeral on Praslin by Barry Faure, his Secretary of State and Chairman of the Tourism Board. Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, accompanied by Elsia Grandcourt and other Tourism Board staff members also traveled to the island of Praslin to join the hundreds of mourners and listened to an emotional and very personal eulogy delivered by David Germain.
Mrs. Marie Simone Germain had been an employee of the Ministry of Health on the island of Praslin before her retirement from public life.
