Tourist Stabbed In Israel
Australian tourist murdered in Tel Aviv hotel
An Australian tourist was found stabbed to death in the Dan Panorama hotel in Tel Aviv.
The 54-year-old was found on the 15th floor of the hotel, located near the southern part of the Tel Aviv boardwalk, with severe stab wounds to her upper body and neck.
Police forces were immediately called to the scene, and arrested her partner, also a 54-year-old Australian tourist, on suspicion of his involvement in the murder. The identity of the woman is still unknown.
The body was first found by the hotel security manager, was called to the couple’s room on by other hotel guests who had heard shouts coming from the room. On opening the door of the room, he saw the body of the victim lying on the floor, with her husband at her side. The security manager closed the door, called the police, and ensured the husband did not leave the premises.
Brigadier General Yoram Ochion, commander of Tel Aviv’s Hayarkon district, told reporters at the scene of the crime that police suspect the woman’s death was the result of an argument between the victim and her husband, or an emotional problem.
“The suspect connected himself to the crime through the fact that we found him in the room,” Ochion said. “We suspect that he is the murderer but we still need to establish this,” he added.
The police updated the Foreign Ministry, so that the Australian embassy could be informed.
