American Airlines to launch nonstop service between New York and Antigua

NEW YORK - American Airlines today announced it will launch service between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and V. C. Bird International Airport in Antigua (ANU), four times a week beginning Nov. 17. The new service will be operated by a Boeing 737 aircraft with 148 seats.

"Antigua and Barbuda, known for their beautiful beaches and wide variety of land and sea activities, are a popular destination for passengers travelling from and through New York," said Art Torno, American's Vice President – New York. "As American celebrates 30 years of service to the island, we are pleased to begin this new service from JFK Airport, offering convenient access to Antigua and Barbuda as well as additional travel options for our valued customers."

"Antigua and Barbuda is extremely pleased that American Airlines will add a flight connecting New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Antigua," said Antigua and Barbuda's Minster of Tourism, Hon. John H. Maginley. "This new service provides us with a great opportunity to increase the number of visitors to Antigua and Barbuda from around the world. We are glad to partner with American Airlines to showcase our beautiful islands."

American Airlines currently serves Antigua with one daily flight between Antigua and Miami. American Eagle operates one daily flight between Antigua and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
