COLUMBIA, Md. (TVLW) - Icelandair will terminate services from Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), effective January 13, 2008, due to escalating costs and decreasing revenues. "We are fine-tuning the Icelandair route network and our capacity in an effort to increase profitability," said Jon Karl Olafsson, president and CEO of Icelandair.

Mid-Atlantic area travelers may be accommodated on Icelandair's flights to Iceland and beyond via Boston and New York-JFK, where additional flights will expand capacity up to two flights daily in peak season next year.

Icelandair will offer year round service from Canada beginning April 21, 2008 in Halifax and May 2, 2008 in Toronto. Icelandair continues US operations in Boston, New York-JFK, Minneapolis/St. Paul (seasonal) and Orlando Sanford.

Icelandair services some 20 destinations in Scandinavia, Great Britain and Continental Europe through its hub in Reykjavik, Iceland.
