Japanese Are Traveling More

Europe expecting more visitors from Japan this summer

Aug 02, 2011

Following the tragic events of March 2011 in Japan, ETOA surveyed its members working there and is pleased to report that the responses show that business is recovering well and the summer promises double-digit growth compared with the spring.

This illustrates that Japan has a real resilience to adversity. This dependability makes it a unique and important market in the industry.

The Japanese are a longstanding mainstay of Europe’s tourism economy. ETOA would call upon the various sectors of the travel industry to extend a warm welcome to the visitors who are choosing to travel again. Despite the challenges which the market has faced in recent years, this constant desire to see and experience Europe never wavers. As an association, ETOA wants to promote understanding on how to best look after Japanese guests as they travel again in 2011 and beyond.

With this in mind, a special event is being planned in Europe in the autumn, looking at the Japanese market.

Tourism has the ability to cross barriers and create connections, and the way Japanese visitors are treated today, will have repercussions for travelers of tomorrow.

Japan has been, and will continue to be, one of the leading nations of travelers to Europe.
