The UK’s leading color specialists and luxury hair salon, Daniel Galvin, has marked a new chapter in the evolution of its history with the opening of the new Daniel Galvin Hair Salon at London’s next generation of spa, ESPA Life, situated within the latest luxury landmark, Corinthia Hotel London. This stunning new salon, featuring nine stations, bears all the hallmarks of the legendary Daniel Galvin service, offering unrivaled technical expertise and heritage within a brand new ultra-luxurious salon space. The salon team has been handpicked for their West End experience and all have spent three months at the current Daniel Galvin salon becoming “Galvinized.”

Drawing on Daniel Galvin’s strong links with the film industry, the new salon also incorporates the experience and insight of world famous, Oscar-winning, make-up artist and long-time salon colleague, Lois Burwell. A leading light of the Hollywood “behind the camera” scene, Lois helped Daniel design the innovative bespoke lighting for the Ultimate Make-Over Room. The Ultimate Make-Over Room is a world first, created to offer complete discretion and privacy to visiting celebrities, actors, actresses, and privileged salon guests. Designed by GA Design, the hotel’s principal designers, the salon builds on the aesthetic and values of the main Daniel Galvin flagship salon and combines them with the key themes of the rest of the hotel and spa area. With a rich color palette of earth tones, the space has been created to relax guests, providing a hairdressing experience that is completely isolated from the distractions of the outside world. When desired, the ESPA Life spa team is on hand to provide a manicure or pedicure that is second to none, right there within the salon.

Daniel Galvin at Corinthia Hotel London is set to become a destination salon for both men and women. Those in the entertainment industry are sure to use the salon as the perfect spot to prepare talent for press junkets. Spa and hotel guests will want to experience the ultimate blow dry, after indulging in ESPA treatments or before an occasion dinner at one of the hotel’s distinctive restaurants. The salon is also the ideal special location for the stylists to create bespoke looks for brides and wedding clients.

“Opening the first Daniel Galvin salon since our Marylebone flagship within Corinthia London has given us the chance to create something truly magnificent in a really special building in the heart of London. This salon has been two years in its creation, and Daniel Galvin is very proud and privileged to be working with a hotel with such vision,” said Salon Founder, Daniel Galvin.

THE ULTIMATE MAKE-OVER ROOM
Inspired by Movies, Media, and Music

Discretely separate from the bustle of the main salon, there is an almost invisible door that leads to the Ultimate Make-Over Room. This unique room offers 100% privacy to visiting celebrities, actors, actresses, and guests looking for something a cut above the usual salon experience.

Corinthia London has already established itself among some of the biggest names in cinema, art, culture, media, fashion, and luxury who have visited the hotel for a first look.

Six private executive-level meeting rooms are fitted with a state-of-the-art, high-definition optical turnkey system that effortlessly allows total connectivity for media broadcasting, recording, editing, and mixing. With Corinthia London set to become the destination venue for the movie, media, and music industries, it made perfect sense for the Daniel Galvin salon to offer an exclusive VIP room.

Oscar Winning Make-Up Artist Lois Burwell consulted on specific design elements of the Ultimate Make-Over Room to ensure its status as a haven for visiting actors and actresses who need to revamp their hair for their current role or simply as a hair and make-up room where they can be prepped for a day of press junkets and interviews within the hotel. Kino Flo lighting has been specifically designed and installed to imitate everything from on-camera HD to outdoor lighting. The room itself offers an intimate space with enough room for a make-up artist and hair stylist to work together.

Lois has been the head make-up artist on Braveheart, Catch Me If You Can, and The Last Samurai, and previously worked as personal make-up artist to Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, and Michael Caine. Lois has used her expertise and experience working in the film industry to advise on the needs of visiting talent and film crews.

Lois said: “I first met Daniel Galvin over 20 years ago when I started in the business. I was working with an actor on a movie. He came for make-up and hair tests with bleached blonde hair that urgently needed to be corrected for a period piece. I asked around for the best people in town to do the most accurate color and was directed to Daniel’s salon. We’ve worked on projects together ever since. When looking at the needs of the Ultimate Makeover Room, my inspiration came from the private salons of the old-school Hollywood studios. I wanted to create a space that was a private, “safe space” that actors and celebrities in particular, would feel comfortable in. In the age of Twitter and camera phones, it becomes a challenge, even at studios, to find this type of space.

“I wanted to have access to all the tools of the trade, correct power and adapters, lights, and atmosphere, too. A tailor-made facility for make-up and hair to come to life. The priority was a well-lit, functional space with enough comfort and luxury not to feel too much like hard work for the talent. A combination of practicality and comfort with style. A room that just works…. I’ve always wanted to have a space like this available to me; a ‘make-over playroom.’”

Two screens in this unique VIP room offer a choice of a constant stream of live TV or the pick of over one hundred of the world’s most iconic movies to inspire and entertain guests. The room also works as a fully functioning office for those that may need to work or speak with their directors or family while they have their hair styled. As well as having various charging points and Skype facilities, talent will be able to upload rushes of their latest projects to use as a guide brief to the stylists and to ensure film continuity. The complete seclusion of the Ultimate Make-Over Room also ensures it as the perfect choice for ladies whose religion and culture necessitates privacy when exposing their hair.
