UGANDA (eTN) - The 41-day time window for the discovery of new Ebola cases, after the outbreak of May 12, is expiring today in Uganda allowing the Ministry of Health to declare the country once again Ebola free.

As reported here, there was one single case of the outbreak recorded when a young girl died of the "Sudan strain" of the virus, but Uganda’s immediate reaction and extensive isolation of potential other victims or affected individuals paid handsomely as, entirely unusual in such a case, only one victim was recorded, while others in touch with here showed no signs of infection while in hospital isolation wings.

Uganda has with this almost written new history, as the spread of the disease was immediately contained and further casualties by this highly contagious virus avoided.
