All 27 Thailand properties within Centara Hotels & Resorts are participating in a program to aid victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami by donating 10 percent of their net revenues from the period June to August.

The program is organized by STWorld, a business partner of Centara and one of the major travel agents in Japan, specializing in beach resorts and exotic destinations worldwide through direct sales and wholesale.

Under the STWorld program, each of the Centara properties will contribute 10 percent of their net revenue, the funds being transferred by individual credit notes from each property, valid beginning November 1, 2011.

Revenues raised will go towards the purchase of an apartment complex in Japan which is fully dedicated to disaster victims and which will provide a home for 500 households.

โ€œWe are happy to be making a positive contribution to provide assistance to those rendered homeless by this dreadful tragedy,โ€ said Chris Bailey, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Centara Hotels & Resorts, โ€œEach of our Thai properties is closely involved, and I think all of our guests will be pleased to know they are helping the victims of the disaster.โ€

The STWorld program is a response to the earthquake that occurred off the northeastern coast of Japan on March 11, which with the subsequent tsunami waves left thousands of people dead or injured and caused a vast amount of damage and destruction.
