Tourism Board CEO Reveals Helipad

Luxury resort in Seychelles can now transport guests via helicopter

Jun 08, 2011

The Seychelles destination is known and seen as being the idyllic hideaway for discerning travelers wanting the ultimate in tropical holidays. The well-known and reputable Maia Luxury Resort & Spa prides itself on its management style, which provides for the concept of being able to anticipate its guests’ needs, and at the same time protecting the privacy of its guests. This is why Maia has taken the decision to build a helicopter landing pad on the private hilltop of the resort.

With this new attraction, the resort’s guests can now be transferred by helicopter. They will arrive by the Baie of Anse Boileau where guests will enjoy the magnificent views of the ocean and will have an “avant gout" of the location of their private villas scattered on the hillside facing the sea. Helicopters will not overfly the resort.

With this new helipad, guests at Maia can now plan day-out picnics to Grand Barbe on Silhouette Island where guests will have the beach to themselves, on Aride Island the bird sanctuary, or even Anse Cocos on La Digue Island will now be possible. On these excursions, the guests will be accompanied by their personal dedicated butler who will take care of their needs and wants.

To discover the splendor of the islands, Maia guests will also have the possibility of booking scenic flights of 15 minutes or more. A scenic flight is one of the specialties of Zil Air and guests will relax and luxuriate while they absorb the fantastic kaleidoscope of colors of nature, the beach, and the seas of these magnificent islands.

As of today, both North Island and Fregate Island will be only 15 minutes from the heart of Maia, and guests will have the privilege to arrive and depart directly from and to the islands' resorts.

The June 8 inaugural flight to Maia Resort had on board the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Mr. Alain St.Ange, accompanied by the builders who realized the Maia helipad project – Mr. Alain Marguerite, the resort’s Head Gardener; Mr. Jean Joseph, Maintenance Manager; and Mr. Paul Cafrine, Contractor. Mr. Frederic Vidal, the General Manager of the resort, was personally at the helipad to welcome them.

The Maia helipad is totally private and only for the use of the resorts’ guests. As such, all bookings (transfers, scenic flights, excursions, etc.) will be made through the resort at .
