Seychelles and China to present first joint cultural week

An agreement was signed by the Seychelles Resident Ambassador to China Mr. Philippe Le Gall, which promises a program that will include an exhibition of Seychellois painters; musical performances; an exhibition of Chinese paper-cut works inspired by Seychelles’ landscapes, monuments, and flora and fauna; as well as an exhibition of pictures taken at the time of the Festival Kreol 2011 by a group of 10 Chinese photographers headed by the Vice Chairman of China Photographers’ Association Mr. Wang Yue who will be attending this year’s event.

The Seychelles Embassy in China signed the agreement last week with the China International Friendship and Cultural Friendship Festival organizers to host a Cultural Week of Seychelles and China in Beijing in 2012.

This special cultural week on Seychelles, the first organized in China, will also focus on Seychelles business and investment opportunities, and coincide with activities to promote Seychelles as the best Indian Ocean tourism destination.

Under this agreement, 2 or 3 business delegations of up to 20 Chinese representatives from a number of sectors, in particular tourism, agriculture, food processing, construction, media, environment protection, and amusement parks, are also expected to visit Seychelles between June and December 2011.

The signing between Ambassador Le Gall and Secretary General Yong An Cui was also attended by the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Regional Director for Asia and Australasia Mrs. Myrna Michel, as well as the newly-appointed tourism attachรฉ working at the Embassy in Beijing, Mr. Jean-Luc Lai Lam.
