UK News Carries Carnival Article

Seychelles Carnaval International de Victoria continues to reap PR benefits

Apr 20, 2011

This newest carnival to enter the world of carnivals is different to what exists anywhere not only because of its name "the carnivals of carnivals," but because even though it is staged in Seychelles, it remains an event for the world and for countries from the Community of Nations to use to showcase their own culture, diversity, and what they all stand for.

The mid-ocean islands of the Seychelles continues to reap great publicity from their “Carnaval International de Victoria” organized earlier this year. The Seychelles launched what will become an annual event under the theme of “the melting pot of cultures” by inviting the Community of Nations to send their cultural groups to parade in a carnival procession alongside the best known carnivals of the world.

The latest article published in the United Kingdom has brought to life the three days of celebrations in the Seychelles where some 21 international carnival floats had traveled to the Seychelles from the 4 corners of the world to participate alongside some 60 Seychelles national floats in a procession filled with color, noise, and fun. Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, has said that he was committed to ensuring that all those who participated in the Seychelles “carnival of carnivals” would receive world-wide coverage for their own country and for their culture. "This is why we take the trouble to invite the international press of repute to cover this event with a difference," St.Ange said. The Seychelles believes that journalists are the best judge of an event of this magnitude, and the reports that have been coming out right across the world for some six weeks now, since the carnival in Seychelles ended, have demonstrated that the members of the press who were invited to be in Seychelles to witness for themselves the 2011 “Carnaval International de Victoria” were not only impressed by the event, but that they also appreciated the need for an event that treated everyone with respect and that went beyond world politics. "The press will become the ambassadors for the event staged in Seychelles, because they will see an event worth their time in a surrounding considered to be the safest in the world we are today living in," Alain St.Ange said.

The next edition of the “Carnaval International de Victoria” in the Seychelles is set for March 2-4, 2012.
