AirTran Airways flight attendants ratify collective bargaining agreement

ORLANDO, Fla. – AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc., announced today the successful ratification of a new collective bargaining agreement with its flight attendants. The agreement was overwhelmingly approved by 96 percent of voting members.

The agreement takes effect May 1, 2011, and provides for increased compensation, improved benefits and preservation of key service and reliability functions.

“It is extremely gratifying to come to this agreement which benefits our dedicated flight attendants, our Company and all Crew Members,” said Bob Fornaro, AirTran Airways’ chairman, president and chief executive officer. “We have an agreement that rewards our flight attendants for their hard work while still allowing our airline to maintain its high-quality, low-cost structure, and affordable service.”

The more than 2,200 flight attendants at AirTran Airways are represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO.
