Tourism Ireland expects boost from Obama, Queen visits

Mar 18, 2011

The visits of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and US President Barack Obama in May expected yield a significant long term boost for the Irish tourism sector, Tourism Ireland says.

The body says it will be working closely with the international media to showcase Irish scenery and a warm welcome to the millions of people who will follow the visit.

President Obama announced yesterday that he would visit Ireland in May to trace his family roots in Moneygall Co. Offaly.

Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland Niall Gibbons says his visit coupled with the arrival of the Queen in May will provide Irish tourism with a much needed boost.
