Seychelles President declares afternoon of March 4 a public holiday so all may enjoy opening ceremony of carnival

President James Michel has declared that the afternoon of Friday, March 4, 2011 shall be observed as a public holiday in Seychelles.

President James Michel has declared that the afternoon of Friday, March 4, 2011 shall be observed as a public holiday in Seychelles. The declaration makes provision for everyone to be able to leave work from 12:00 noon onwards.

This public holiday will be held on the occasion of the 2011 Seychelles “Carnaval International de Victoria,” which will be launched as from 4:00 pm on Friday, March 4 at the Victoria Clock Tower.

Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, has welcomed the announcement made by President Michel. โ€œThere is so much excitement in the country, and we needed to let everyone get home early so that they can come back to Victoria in time for the official opening of the 2011 carnival and appreciate the show that will follow,โ€ Alain St.Ange said.

The 2011 carnival will be officially opened by Seychelles President, Mr. James Michel, at a ceremony in the center of Victoria in front of the Clock Tower, the Seychelles Capitalโ€™s landmark monument.
