Carnaval International de Victoria
Seychelles TV dedicates air time for coming carnival
The Seychelles television network, Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), dedicated a 25-minute program to the coming 2011 Seychelles "Carnaval International de Victoria." The carnival program was headed by popular TV personality, Raymond Clarisse, who had invited Alain St.Ange, CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board; Mr. Tambarra from the Seychelles Police; and Nigel Henrie from the Carnival Logistics Group to be part of the panel on his program.
The idea behind the Seychelles TV program was to enlighten the Seychelles population on the carnival program and to clear up queries on the route to be taken by the carnival float procession. Alain St.Ange took the TV audience through the opening ceremony, which is set for March 4 at 6:00 pm by the Clock Tower right in the center of Victoria. He also explained the carnival route procession as he invited the population to rally in Victoria for three days of fun and enjoyment. Mr. Tambarra of the Seychelles Police explained the roads that will be closed for the three days of the carnival, and Nigel Henrie took time to go through the fine details of the floats preparations.
The Raymond Clarisse Program has been credited to have further brought to life the importance of the carnival and the excitement that is now so evident in the country.
Overseas delegations have started arriving in the country with all the delegations due to be in by Thursday afternoon. "Seychelles will see an event never seen before," Alain St.Ange said as he left the TV station today and as he took time to invite Seychellois and tourists to Victoria for the three days starting from March 4 and continuing to March 6.
