Airlines to be represented at 2011 Seychelles Carnaval International de Victoria

Feb 16, 2011

The Seychelles national carrier, Air Seychelles, and Emirates airline have confirmed that they will both be participating in the 2011 Seychelles "Carnaval International de Victoria," due to be held in the capital between March 4-6.

Air Seychelles' float, with the theme "The Wonderful World of the Creoles," will involve the participation of some 50 people, some of who will don carnival costumes depicting the rich Creole colors and culture, and others the uniforms of the various departments within the airline.

Emirates' float on its part is themed "The Globe," with some 20 people and will feature a globe of the world accompanied by a selection of the airline's international cabin crew and is designed to illustrate the global nature and reach of Emirates as an airline.

Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board and eTurboNews Ambassador, said that the organization of the 2011 Seychelles "Carnaval International de Victoria" was happy to see the involvement and the participation of two airlines who are linking Seychelles to the world. "The Seychelles Carnival would never be the success we all want it to be if organizations such as our airlines were not actively involved and supportive of the event. The success of our tourism industry is dependent on air access, and it is us, as a country working in tandem with airlines, that will ensure the consolidation of our tourism industry," Alain St.Ange said.

The 2011 Seychelles "Carnaval International de Victoria" will be officially opened on March 4 in front of the Clock Tower, right in the center of Victoria, the capital of Seychelles. The country is said to have rallied all its resources to ensure a smooth and successful carnival. The coverage of the Seychelles Carnival is expected to be a departure on what was previously organized for previous events. Some 40 journalists from written press and television are expected to be in Seychelles to cover this move by the Seychelles to enter the "World of Carnivals."
