reduced the revenue for adult movies

Soon no more dirty movies at Marriott Hotels

Jan 30, 2011

The hotel industry has stated that revenue from adult oriented programming has been declining steadily over the last few years, as more and more business travelers bring notebooks with access to the Internet.

Adult films still provide strong revenue for many business traveler centric hotels, but as that stream diminishes we’ll see more companies getting rid of the service as the amount of complaints from family oriented travelers becomes more expensive than the profit made from the films. Last week USA Today announced that adult entertainment provider LodgeNet suffered a 19% reduction in profit between 2008 and 2009.

The Marriot hotel chain has announced they will be phasing out adult movies from their hotel rooms. Long the bane of lonely business travelers (should I, I may have to explain that invoice?) could this be the end of adult entertainment while traveling?

While many people might consider this a win for moral and religious beliefs, Marriot‚Äôs statement on the matter is purely financial ‚ÄúChanging technology and how guests access entertainment has reduced the revenue hotels and their owners derive from in-room movies, including adult content.‚ÄĚ
