Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities: Winners wanted

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) recently invited the tourism industry to participate in the Saudi Tourism Excellent Awards, and submit their nomination for awards in different categories. Starting from Saturday, January 15, 2011, for two weeks, SCTA launched a special media campaign to promote the Saudi Tourism Excellent Awards in its first session under the theme, “Winners Wanted,” through all the national newspapers.

The award aims to reward outstanding individuals and companies who have succeeded in the development of their business and their activities in the tourism sector during the year 2010. The awards include 8 categories, covering diverse aspects of tourism.

The “Best Residence Award” will be awarded to the best luxury hotel, best local hotel, best economy hotel, best furnished apartment (first grade), best furnished apartment (second grade), best furnished apartments (third grade).
The “Shopping and Entertainment Award” is granted for best shopping experience, best handicraft, best winter festival, and best summer festival.
The “Food and Catering Award” is granted to best fine dining restaurant, best traditional food and catering, best mid-market restaurant.

The “Transportation Award” is granted to the best airline company serving the kingdom, and the best national transportation.

The “Industry Award” is granted to the best travel and tourism agency, best tourism tour operator, best conference management and organizing company, and the best tourism destination.

The “Exhibitions and Conferences Award” is granted to the best conference for the year, and best exhibition for the year, and the best cultural event.
“Award for Best Employee in the Industry” will be given to best customer service, best tourist guide, best academic or tourism training project.

The “Special Honor Award” is granted to best tourism regional contribution.
There will be a special award in the name of HRH President of SCTA, and it is not open for entry and is devoted to important contributions in the field of tourism in the kingdom, granted at the discretion of HRH President of SCTA.
Noteworthy, HRH President of SCTA had launched the “Saudi Tourism Excellence Award” during the event of the inauguration ceremony of Saudi Voyager magazine, which recently published its first edition in the English language. The award will be offered on an annual basis in recognition of their excellence in different tourism areas on March 29, 2011, during the Fourth Travel and Tourism Market, which will be held in Riyadh during the last month of March 2011.
