Middlesex University, Dubai Tourism Dept sign agreement

Middlesex University Dubai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. The initiative is for DTCM to provide internship opportunities to Middlesex University Dubai students. The internship and employment services are intended to provide internship opportunities for Middlesex University Dubai Students and at the same time provide the opportunity for DTCM to identify, select and employ suitable candidates for the benefit of its manpower requirements.The internship positions with DTCM will not only enhance employability of the students who partake in the programme, but will also provide them with transferable skills and increase employment opportunities. Moreover, Middlesex University Dubai will provide suitable candidates of high caliber to DTCMDTCM, whereby reducing the high costs of direct hiring and will establish a direct, monitored, systematic and effective link between prospective employees and the employers.

Middlesex University Dubai's Campus Director Professor Raed Awamleh, and Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot, Executive Director of Corporate Support at DTCM were there to sign the collaborative agreement. "This agreement is a great milestone for the employment prospects of our students, particularly as Middlesex University Dubai offers five different programmes related to Tourism and Hospitality management" commented Professor Raed Awamleh.

Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot said that "we are glad to sign the MOU with Middlesex University which is considered one of the best universities in the region. We are looking forward to have a sustainable relationship which helps the improvement at the Dubai's Tourism industry in all aspects."

Middlesex University Dubai is celebrating its sixth year in Dubai which currently enrolls over 1700 students and has more than 1,000 graduates. The UK's Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education's (QAA) has given its top-most rating to Middlesex University in 2009. QAA identified as 'good practice' the meticulous attention given to the establishment, development and integration of the University's Dubai campus. The University was praised for assuring that learning opportunities in Dubai are comparable to those available to students in London. The campus is also licensed by the Dubai government's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). Furthermore, the University Quality Assurance International Board at KHDA reviews all programmes on offer in Dubai to ensure that the quality of programmes taught in Dubai are equivalent to those at the home campus in London.
