The director general of licensing and quality for the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) Eng. Ahmed Al Essa has called for better communication between tourism service providers and tour operators to make The Kingdom more attractive for visitors.

Giving the keynote speech at the Hotelier Middle East KSA GM Debate in Riyadh yesterday, he claimed not enough was being done to fully promote the country’s tourism offering.

“There have been initiatives by local hotels to create services but we haven’t seen enough positive action,” he said.

“For example in Makkah during Umrah and Hajj we only found very basic services being offered — just food and lodging and not much more.”

Al Essa asserted that tour operators and travel companies were unable to create “attractive packages” because the conditions were not being created by the hotels for them to do so.

“The problem won’t be solved without communication between tour operators and businesses,” he enthused.

"make The Kingdom more attractive for visitors"

Why bother?
It is impossible to visit!
First KSA must get the visa act together.
Look at the UAE, Qatar or Bahrein for good examples.
