QUINCY, Mass. - Icelandair will begin seasonal service from Washington Dulles International Airport with four flights a week starting May 17, 2011 through September 13, 2011.

To celebrate service from their newest gateway, Icelandair is offering special early bird fares from Dulles to Iceland starting as low as $429* round-trip for travel in May 2011 when service is launched.

"Icelandair is very familiar with the Baltimore-Washington market and looks forward to serving the metropolitan area that Icelandair called home for nearly 15 years," said Thorsteinn Egilsson, General Manager – The Americas. "Dulles Airport will offer convenient connectivity for U.S. travelers and will serve the large International market surrounding Washington, D.C. The launch of service from Washington, D.C. will serve our passengers traveling to Iceland and beyond well into the future and we look forward to welcoming them aboard."

Washington, D.C. will be the latest city added to the 2011 Icelandair schedule with a total of 8 North American gateways and over 20 destinations in Europe. Earlier this year Icelandair announced service to a host of new destinations in Europe. Their 2011 network will feature more departures from North America, with the largest schedule in its 73 year history.

"We welcome Icelandair to Washington Dulles International Airport and look forward to working with them," said Lynn Hampton, President and CEO of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. "This new international air service will greatly benefit air travelers in the metropolitan Washington area, providing new travel options to all of the destinations Icelandair serves."

In addition to Washington, D.C. Icelandair, offers non-stop service to Iceland from Boston, New York-JFK, Seattle, and seasonal service from Minneapolis - St. Paul, Orlando Sanford, Halifax and Toronto. Connections through Icelandair's hub at Keflavik International Airport are available to over 20 destinations in Scandinavia, the U.K. and Continental Europe. Icelandair also allows passengers to stopover in Iceland at no additional airfare.
