NASSAU, Bahamas - Twin-engine Cessna aircraft, registered to the air charter Acklins Blue Company, crashed in the Bahamas shortly after taking off yesterday. All eight people on board – the pilot and seven passengers - died in the crash.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization today issued the following statement:

"The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life in yesterday’s plane crash in The Bahamas.

All eight victims are believed to be from The Bahamas, an invaluable member of the CTO.

With a population of just over 300,000 people, this tragedy will undoubtedly touch every national in the Bahamas. The entire CTO family is deeply touched by this disaster as well.

We offer our sincerest condolences to the families of all of those who so tragically lost their lives in the crash and to those who are grieving their loss."
