At least 11 people were killed Thursday after a tourist bus fell into a ravine in northwestern China, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The wreck happened in Altay, in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, the news agency reported, citing police. Fifteen tourists were among 17 people on the bus when the wreck happened, the news agency said.
The bus was on its way from Buerjin County to the scenic Kanas Lake.
Rescuers were on the scene, Xinhua reported, and authorities were investigating the cause of the accident.
