(eTN) - A reported engine failure during takeoff from Sumbawanga brought a Cessna 206 with two passengers and a pilot down hard beyond the airfield last week. Thankfully no injuries were reported from the scene.

The aircraft sustained damage to the undercarriage owing to the force of impact when returning to ground.

The plane was reportedly enroute to Dar es Salaam and was operated by an Arusha-based domestic charter airline, "Flight Link."

Investigations into the cause are underway by the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority to establish the reasons why the engine failed. In the meantime, the pilot was applauded for saving the lives of his passengers.
