RABAT – Eight Portuguese tourists were killed and 13 wounded on Wednesday when their bus overturned in northern Morocco, local government officials said.
The bus was travelling from the Spanish enclave of Ceuta towards the Moroccan city of Tetouan when the accident occurred near the Errifiyyines area.
Authorities were investigating the cause of the accident, the officials said.
Moroccan state news agency MAP said police suspected the bus driver had lost control of the vehicle because he was exceeding the speed limit. Road accidents kill about 4,000 people in Morocco each year.
